Code of Ethics

Members shall adhere to the highest editorial and legal standards in their work. In addition to providing editorial and publishing services to clients, members are dedicated to supporting one another’s professional careers.

When consulting with prospective clients or working with clients, members will demonstrate tact, fairness, honesty, and respect; protect the reputation and self-esteem of the client to the best of their ability; use their conscience and common sense when it comes to conflicts of interest; and refrain from promoting their spiritual or political views with clients.

Members may not speak on behalf of BE at public events without prior approval of the organization.

Members act independently and, as such, if legal action is taken against a member, it is solely that member’s responsibility; the other members will be held harmless from any and all loss, cost, and expense, including attorneys’ fees.
